Toon Bierman graduated in 2007 at the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg having studied with Joop Albracht, Jan Gruithuizen and Marie-Laure Boulanger focussing mainly on piano- and chambermusic of the 20th century. He participated in many classes, competitions and festivals since then. He was a laureate of the Prinses Christina Concours in 1999 and 2001, won the Juryprize in Modern music series The Link. He was closely connected to the Traces of voices and Traces of Rhythm festicals and the World Minimal Music Festival in Amsterdam. Over the years he participated in classes with Håkon Austbø, Mikhail Vosskressensky, Jan Wijn, Marie-Laure Boulanger, Vladimir Tropp, Pascal Devoyon, Rian de Waal, Michael Davidson, Charles Neidich and Alan Weiss. Since 2009 he works at Fontys Academy of Music and Performing Arts (AMPA), Master of Music and the Young Musicians Academy as an accompanist and piano teacher and assisted several productions at De Nationale Reisopera in Enschede. From 2008 until 2019 he was pianist and co-leader of ensembles Lunapark and Lunatree.
