Unconventional Influences
Unconventional Influences
About this project
“Unconventional Influences” is a project created by Luís Melo (Clarinet) that will count with the collaboration of the following musicians: Francisco Morato (Bass), Bart Maris (Trumpet) and José Brandão (Piano), all residents in Gent (Belgium). The project was created for the specific presentation in the European Clarinet Congress 2023. It consists in a mix between free improvisation and our own compositions. Music that is characterized by the absence of predetermined harmonic, melodic, or rhythmic structures. Instead, the musicians will create in the moment, listening and responding to one another in real-time to create a unique and spontaneous musical experience. This kind of music is often associated with the avant-garde and experimental music scenes, and can range from chaotic and abrasive to peaceful and meditative. Giving the musicians the freedom to explore and create without the constraints of traditional music structures, resulting in deeply emotional and authentic performances that are unlike anything else, the limit is the imagination itself.
