About this project
A life defined by curiosity and exploration Paul Roe is an interdisciplinary collaborative artist who works in a range of areas with an eclectic mix of arts activities in performance, teaching & mentoring.
He is a performer (clarinet and bass clarinet) of international repute and was Associate Principal Clarinet of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. He has been a member of Concorde Contemporary Music Ensemble since 1989 and has given solo, ensemble and orchestral performances throughout Europe, Asia and America.
Paul has a PhD in Performance Practice from the University of York, a Masters Degree in Community Music from the University of Limerick and he is a Fellow of Trinity College, London. As a Fulbright Scholar, he studied Klezmer performance at Mannes College of Music, New York, U.S.A.
Paul is the artistic director of the innovative multidisciplinary collective –The Art of Collaboration which explores a diverse range of approaches to co-creativity. The most recent release from this collective include a new CD entitled Just Be which has been described by the Irish Times as …a sweeping yet intimate collection of new compositions and traditional tunes, with a meditative spoken work piece.
As a collaborative artist and thought-leader Paul is involved in various projects (supported by the Arts Council of Ireland) with a variety of artists and groups including Concorde, Evlana, Music Currents, Tulca & Temenos.
